On the eve of the release of Nu Directions’ first non drum & bass extended player ‘Emotional Response’, we took some time to catch up with scottish dubstep supremo Alex Cowles, AKA DFRNT, to quiz him on his motives as a producer, the scottish dubstep scene and having many fingers in different pies.

Out on July 18th is the first ‘outer drum & bass experiment’ from Nu Directions in the form of DFRNT’s ‘Emotional Response’ EP. ‘Deep’ is the word to describe this excellent 11 tracker which features exclusive remixes from Jus Wan, Jack Dixon and ASC.
